Untangling Family Ties – Spring 2026 Course

Bowen Family Systems Theory

Family of origin work

Course Overview

How does understanding yourself better in the context of your relationships reveal new ways to respond with more clarity, confidence and thoughtful intention? This course provides a hands-on way to apply Bowen Family Systems Theory to your own life, and may enhance your therapeutic presence and reduce burnout.  This small group format will explore how closeness, distance, triangles, birth order, nodal events and family history influence one’s functioning for better and for worse. Without the broader framework that history provides, it is easy to fall into subjective reactions such as blaming, avoiding, idealizing, diagnosing or fearing.
