Family of Origin Workshop – Spring 2026
Bowen Family Systems Theory
Family of origin work
Workshop Overview
How does understanding yourself better in the context of your relationships reveal new ways to respond with more clarity, confidence and thoughtful intention? This workshop provides a hands-on way to apply Bowen Family Systems Theory to your own life. It also may enhance your therapeutic presence and reduce burnout. This small group workshop will explore how closeness, distance, triangles, birth order, nodal events and family history influence one’s functioning for better and for worse. You will learn how without the broader framework that history provides, it is easy to fall into subjective reactions such as blaming, avoiding, idealizing, diagnosing or fearing.

These classes are NOT therapy sessions. The focus is on observing and reflecting on emotional patterns that influence individual and family functioning.
Workshop Requirements
Participants will have approximately six hours of experience with Bowen Family Systems theory, for example, through a course, reading, personal experience, or a combination of both. See the resources required below.
