Katie White is the Executive Director of Living Systems.

Katie White

Katie White serves as Executive Director and is a faculty member at Living Systems Counselling in Vancouver, BC, where she teaches the Clinical Internship in Bowen Theory and Therapy and has presented annually on Bowen Family Systems Theory since 2011. She is a member of the Network Group for the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family and currently serves as President of the BC Branch of the Canadian Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.

She has worked with individuals, couples, children, and families for over 25 years across the United States, Australia, and Canada. Her formal training includes a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Arizona State University, over twenty years of clinical work with over 10,000 hours of individual, couple and family and ongoing advanced training in Bowen Family Systems Theory through Living Systems Counselling.

Her peer-reviewed articles include “Moving Around the System: A Way of Working Clinically Using Bowen Family Systems Theory”, published in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Family Therapy, Volume 45, p. 235 (2024), and “Promoting Parent Agency Across the World Through the Parent Hope Project: The Difference Bowen Family Systems Theory Makes”, co-authored with L. Errington and S. Ruggier, published in the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy (2025). She has presented at the Family Systems Institute in Sydney, Australia, the International Conference on Bowen Family Systems Theory in Florida, the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family 62nd Annual Symposium (2025), and the British Colombia Association of Clinical Counsellors (2025), among others.

Kara holds registration as a Registered Clinical Counsellor Approved Clinical Supervisor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and as a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist with CAMFT. She maintains a private practice in Vancouver, BC.

In my work with clients, I draw on Bowen Family Systems Theory to provide a new lens for people to understand their current struggles. I work with my clients to help them reduce anxiety and gain clearer thinking about the patterns in current situation. This produces change in individuals’ lives and their relationships.
